What Happens When a Customer Buys

1

Customer reaches checkout

The customer reaches checkout from a service link, Store, QR code, Purchase as Customer flow, or Tap to Pay.
2

Customer pays or starts the plan

The customer completes payment, starts a subscription, or begins an installment plan. This can happen before service delivery, at the time of delivery, or after the service has been delivered.
3

Newie sends the emails

Newie sends a confirmation email. If Terms of Service is enabled, the customer agrees before checkout and the agreed terms are included with the purchase confirmation where available. If Digital Download is enabled, this confirmation email includes the download link. If you configured a Welcome Email, Newie sends that separately with onboarding details such as forms, booking links, app links, portal links, or next steps.
4

Automations run

Any Zapier automations are triggered automatically.
5

Newie handles ongoing billing

Ongoing billing is handled by Newie - subscriptions renew on schedule, installment plans collect payments until complete.
6

You deliver the service

You deliver, continue, or have already delivered the service according to your workflow.

Post-Checkout Messages

Purchase confirmation and Welcome Email are separate messages. The confirmation email handles the payment record, signed agreement, and digital download where enabled. The Welcome Email handles onboarding and next steps. For the detailed onboarding version, see Use Welcome Emails to Onboard Customers.

Common Selling and Tap to Pay Support Questions

Publish to Web makes the Store public where available and usable as a public storefront. Search appearance depends on indexing and external discoverability. Private stores can only be reached by direct link or QR code.
Tap to Pay accepts contactless Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, and other contactless digital wallets. Eftpos-only cards can work for one-off Tap to Pay payments but not subscriptions.
Tap to Pay is only available in the Newie iOS app on a supported iPhone. It is not available in the web app or Mac app. Use iPhone XS or later with a supported iOS version and the current Newie app installed.
Check that Tap to Pay has been enabled, you are using the Newie iOS app, the iPhone is supported, iOS is up to date, the profile is complete, payout setup is complete, the business location is registered, and the service is Available for Sale. If the Home setup prompt was dismissed, enable Tap to Pay later from Settings or from the service share flow.
For subscriptions, ask the customer to try Apple Pay or a different supported card. Eftpos-only cards can work for one-off Tap to Pay payments but not future or off-session subscription payments. If Newie shows a decline code, use Troubleshooting & Error Reference.
